Death Valley/Wingate Pass designers cab
SKU: 2545_1111
Death Valley is a very RARE and COLLECTIBLE material.
Any rough material we are able to find on the market would be considered 'old stock', as the area
of collecting was closed to the public in the 1960's. The collection site is now owned
by the Federal Government and is currently the China Lake Naval Training Center.
We certainly understand that the Government can't have people running
around digging for rocks, but it is a tremendous waste of beautiful gemstone material. Consequently, the stone you are buying will continue to appreciate in
value.
This material is known for having a few pits. They are usually very insignificant and won't detract from the beauty of the stone or compromise the structural integrity of the cabochon.
In fact, many times those
pits are filled with sparkling drusy, which is an added bonus to an already
beautiful stone.
The background matrix of Death Valley is usually a deep autumn red color mixed with some browns, blacks and whites and sometimes, although not often, Death Valley will have a clear agate section.
It is truly a beautiful stone that often displays bursts of flowers and should be considered one of the rarest collectible gemstones available.
